doesn’t get as high as I would have expected. If you get one, get with the backrest, when you goto sit it rolls away from you – add to that the foam collapses rapidly and makes you loose your balance toward the back – therefore you might consider the back rest version

The 3 inch foam seat does not have high density foam to prevent collapsing while seated but it is comfortable. The piston is not of high quality so when it is extended to full height and you seat yourself the piston compresses in this area 1-1/2 inches to two inches. Have not done a leak down test to determine if it leaks air after prolonged seating. So between the foam compressing and the piston compressing you loose some of the height adjustment as stated in the eyeglasses. I use this for bench rest shooting where height is critical to maintain once it is set. If I were to buy another stool for what I intended to use it for I would have bought a drummers stool with a solid height adjustment screw and lock to be more established. But, given the cost of the unit for general purpose use the stool is fine.
